Lisa is an independent knitwear designer who has been published by Knitty.com and Brooklyn Tweed; all her patterns are available on Ravelry.com.

Lisa began designing and writing knitting patterns in 2012, following 10+ years of teaching frustrated knitting students. Lisa would often rewrite, translate and spend hours deciphering patterns from magazines, pamphets and books that did not seem to include the crucial details her students needed to successfully work on their knitting projects. As an independent designer, Lisa knits the designs, then she continues the process with a test-knitter and finally a technical editor to ensure her students and pattern customers are knitting from “user friendly” pattern designs and clearly written instructions.

Lisa teaches four knitting classes per week in SW Portland. She works very "part-time" at Close Knit yarn store in NE Portland where she is continually inspired by the store owner's aesthetic and all the amazing colors and yarn options. Lisa is exploring the teaching circuit, most recently teaching at the Madrona Fiber Arts Festival in Tacoma, WA in 2017 and 2018.

In 2005, Lisa left behind 20-plus years and the long hours as a litigation paralegal to create Handworks NW, LLC. At that time she obtained a blocking wire business from knitter and author Myrna Stahman and began producing no-snag, hand-polished Blocking Wire Kits. Handworks Blocking Wire Kits are sold in the United States and Canada.

Lisa lives in Portland, Oregon with her amazing husband, her quick-witted son, two cats and a dog.
